This versatile prop is a utility device that can be used for many different Science by Magic effects found on this site. It’s primary use is to vanish or transform objects.
The corners of the cloth are gathered together forming a makeshift bag. The magician places an object – an egg, a card, a ball, etc, into the folds of the handkerchief and when it is opened, the object has vanished! You can vanish so many different objects that you typically find in a science lab or classroom, such as stirring rods, lab scoops, watch glasses, rubber stoppers, etc. Use your imagination!
