An incredibly unique kit for any biology or entomology curriculum!

It sounds weird, but insect skeletons are on the outside of their body!  Called exoskeletons, they offer protection from the elements and provide a framework for the attachment of muscles and internal organs.  Holding these x-rays up to a light, flashlight, window, or light table, you’ll be able to compare the exoskeletons of 36 insects, including beetles, moths, roaches, mantids, true bugs, grasshoppers, cicadas, and more!  You’ll also be able to study some arthropods, like a scorpion, spider, and centipede.

The x-rays included give three different views of each insect and arthropod: the top, the bottom and the inside.  Match up all 36 insect x-rays to the double sided, sturdy picture cards. Then line up the cards so that you can see straight through the different insects, from the top, through the inside to the bottom.  You’ll learn about the different parts of an insect, such as the head, thorax and abdomen, and discover that very different looking creatures can actually have very similar structures. The teacher guide provides details for each insect.

Includes:

  • 36 x-rays
  • 36 double-sided picture cards
