With mathematical significance, the principle behind the Möbius strip is critical in physics!

A Möbius strip is a looped object with one continuous side and one edge. If you draw a line along the surface of a Möbius strip, it will travel along both faces of the surface before returning to the starting point.

The shape is named after German mathematician August Ferdinand Möbius who brought attention to its mathematical significance in 1858, but it had been known throughout antiquity, as Möbius strips appear in Mesopotamian and Roman artworks.  In fact, the Möbius strip was instrumental to the formation of the field of topology, the study of geometric properties that remain unchanged as an object is deformed, which is vital for physics.
