Tyrannosaurus Rex, whose name means the “king of the tyrant lizards”, was one of the most ferocious predators to ever walk the Earth.
This massive carnivore dominated North America during the late Cretaceous period, 68 million years ago. Stretching up to 40 feet, about the size of a school bus, it weighed in at about eight tons! With 60 sharp serrated teeth, each about eight inches long, it’s head was optimally designed for crunching meals with six tons of pressure- enough power to crush a car! To prevent overheating as it crushed and devoured it’s prey, the T-Rex had vents in it’s head to help its brain stay cool. T-Rex was built to rule!
